BrideSpark vs Joy (WithJoy): Free Wedding Website and Planner Compared (2026)

Short answer: Joy and BrideSpark both give you a free, good-looking wedding website with RSVPs. Joy is strongest as a website, app and registry for your guests. BrideSpark goes further on the planning side: a full budget planner with payment reminders, a dated checklist, a free seating chart, a day-of timeline and printable stationery, all in English or French.

How each one stays free

Joy says it makes money when guests buy registry gifts that Joy sells, plus optional extras like custom domains, text messaging and premium stationery. Its cash funds are marketed as zero-fee: guests pay the card processing fee, and you pay a small flat fee when you transfer money to your bank.

BrideSpark is free for every couple, with every feature included, and we've promised never to charge for planning. We earn from optional printed stationery and some honeymoon booking links. There's no store inside BrideSpark, so your guests are never steered to one.

The planning side

Joy is a great website and guest app, but the planning tools are where the two differ most:

  • Budget: BrideSpark's budget planner splits your total across categories, tracks every quote, deposit and payment, and emails you a week before each one is due. Joy doesn't offer a budget tool.
  • Checklist: BrideSpark's checklist is dated to your wedding, with overdue tasks on your dashboard and a short Monday email. We found printable checklists from Joy, but no checklist inside the app.
  • Seating chart: free in BrideSpark, with printable place cards (seating chart). Joy's seating chart is a paid one-time purchase per event.
  • Timeline and stationery: BrideSpark builds a day-of timeline and has free print-ready stationery in 24 styles, from save-the-dates to table numbers.

Website, guests and photos

This is close. Both build a free website with RSVPs for several events, meal choices and households, collect guests' addresses by link, and give guests a place to share photos. Joy has phone apps for guests today; BrideSpark works in any phone's browser, with apps on the way. Joy sells a custom domain; BrideSpark sites live on bridesparkapp.com.

On language, Joy's own site and help centre are available in French, and you can write your page text in any language. In BrideSpark, everything guests see (the website, RSVP pages and emails) is in French, Canadian French, Spanish, German, Portuguese or Italian when you choose it, not just your own text.

Which should you choose?

Choose Joy if you mainly want a lovely website, a guest app and a registry with cash funds in one place, and you'll manage your budget elsewhere.

Choose BrideSpark if you want the planning done in the same place as the website: budget with reminders, dated checklist, free seating chart, timeline and printable stationery. Or if your guests should see everything in French.

You can also combine them: add your Joy registry link to the gift section of a BrideSpark website.
