Tips for a wedding day schedule that works

  • Work backwards from the ceremony: hair and makeup almost always take longer than planned - allow about 45 minutes per person.
  • Add 15-minute buffers before the ceremony and between venues.
  • If you do a first look, most of the couple and wedding party photos happen before the ceremony, so you can enjoy cocktail hour.
  • Plan family photos with a list of groups, and ask someone who knows both families to gather people.
  • Check vendors' hours: when does the photographer leave, and when must the venue be empty?
  • Send the final timeline to your vendors and wedding party a week before.

Questions, answered

How long should a wedding day timeline be?

Most cover 10 to 12 hours, from hair and makeup to the send-off. The ceremony itself is often only 20 to 40 minutes.

When should the ceremony start?

Many couples choose mid-to-late afternoon, so dinner and dancing flow naturally afterwards and photos catch the softer evening light.

Is the timeline builder free?

Yes - the timeline builder, editing and printing are free in BrideSpark.
